AMWJU, IJU team meets CM Biren

A team of journalists led jointly by All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) president Wangkhemcha Shamjai, Indian Journalists' Union (IJU) president Geetartha Pathak and Indo Bangla Journalist Forum joint secretary Abdul Hadi met chief minister N Biren at the latter's secretariat office here on Friday.
During the meeting, Geetartha Pathak requested N Biren to transform the Ma nipur Press Club into a South East Asia gateway and hub for the Indian journalists and also sought his intervention into issues faced by Bangladesh journalists while applying for VISA to visit India.
Chief minister N Biren, while conveying to the journalist team that the state government is taking up necessary steps to modernise the office building of AMWJU, said that discussions are on to increase the pension amount given to the journalists of the state.
While also assuring of looking into the issues faced by Bangladesh citizens including Manipuris settling in Bangladesh while applying visa to visit India, chief minister N Biren informed that the journalists of the state will be urged to visit Bangladesh and report on the condition of Manipuris settling there.
All necessary help will also be rendered from his side during any meeting of Indo Bangla Journalists' Forum held in the state.
AMWJU general secretary Kh Naoba, IJU treasurer Asem Bhakta and Journalists' Union of Assam executive member Shahidul Islam were also present during the meeting.
