March to Parliament rally

In all 356 members of different trade unions and departments of Manipur Government have taken part in the 'March to Parliament Rally' on February 23, said Co-ordinator of Coordination Committee of Trade unions, Manipur L Sotinkumar.
briefing mediapersons at Manipur Press Club today, Sotinkumar informed that the March was undertaken to highlight plight of the common public due to hike in prices of essential commodities, protest rampant corruption and to prevail upon the Government to ensure the employees enjoy all the perks and incentives entitled to them.
Members of trade unions such as AITUC, CITU, INTUC, TUCC, UTUC, electricity, Accountant General, BSNL, Banks, Post & Telegraph, insurance sectors, etc.
took part in the rally.
He also informed that in the first week of April mass campaigns would be organised under the aegis of the Union at the district headquarters which will be followed by mass rally on may 1.Appealing to the workers to participate in the mass rally, Sotinkumar also urged rickshaw pullers and women vendors to cease trade activities in this day to make the event a grand success.
Further conveying that on April 2 a meeting of Central Trade union would be held at Delhi, he said State representatives would also take part in it.
While applauding announcement of the Central Government for hiking monthly entitlement of Anganwadi workers and helpers as well as old age pension amount, Sotinkumar desired that welfare schemes be taken up for the unorganised sector workers.
