Imphal, May 29 2021:
Aggressive mass testing of suspected individuals showing signs of Covid, close contacts of positive persons, whole family members of any positive and any person willing to take a test for COVID-19 will be taken up from June 1 in Imphal West district.
In a letter addressed to the MLAs of all Assembly Constituencies of Imphal West District, Th Kirankumar, Deputy Commissioner of Imphal West said that the aggressive testing will be implemented for 2 weeks starting from June 1 based on identified hot spots, potential hot spots and suspected locations based on available database on a daily basis.
Aggressive mass testing will increase the testing capacity from around 1000 daily to 3500-5000 per day depending on certain factors, he added.
He continued that the District Administration should notify any available Government or private buildings like educational institutions or community halls that are deemed fit at the earliest considering the sudden increase in the number of positive cases that will come up due to the mass testing.
The same may be used for immediate community home isolation for those cases where individual isolation is not possible.
Lastly the Deputy Commissioner sought the cooperation of all the MLAs to pass the information to all local clubs and associations at the grassroot level so that there is large scale participation during testing, effective home isolation at community level etc.
