Imphal, March 11 2011:
Claiming responsibility for the bomb explosion at Checkon area last night, KCP-Military Council has asserted that the blast was carried out to protest visit of President of India Pratibha Devisingh Patil to Manipur.
Recounting that the blast which took place at 10.45 pm yesterday near Ananda higher Secondary School, in Imphal East district was carried out by 5th Lanjaba Unit Special Demo Team of KCP-MC's Army Wing, a statement issued by its Military Affairs secretary Lanheiba Meitei maintained that the attack was also a part of the outfit's campaign to expose alleged covert agenda of the Central Government to push in non-locals into Manipur.
Asserting that it would impossible for both the State and Central Government to prevent the KCP-MC from carrying out similar attacks or protect non-locals, Lanheiba conveyed that the Checkon attack was the third of its kind this year.
Clarifying that the attack was carried out with utmost care in order to avoid collateral damage and human casualty as was evident when blasts were triggered off at Mongshangei and Telipati areas recently, the secretary said similar precautions would be adopted to ensure that the civilian population, other than those targeted, do not suffer.
The armed outfit further cautioned Ministers and MLAs to take serious note of KCP-MC's 'Operation Clear cut' and take appropriate measures as failure to understand the issue at hand would have undesired consequences.
Rather than remain idle the elected representatives should take pro-active measures for stringent enforcement of the Inner Line Permit System to check unbridled influx of non-locals to Manipur, said the secretary while adding that only a concerted effort by all concerned would be able to defeat the diabolical intention of Government of India.
