Imphal, April 05 2016 :
A protest demonstration was staged today by local people against lobbing a hand grenade at the Brahmapur Aribam Leikai residence of Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) Chairperson Aribam Nimai at around 9 pm yesterday.
The protest demonstration staged at the complex of Youth Club Brahmapur was participated by volunteers of the club and other clubs of the surrounding areas and local meira paibis.
While denouncing the grenade attack, the protesters appealed to all concerned to refrain from such acts of violence in future.
A Nimai's wife Piroda said that there may be a case of monetary demand served to the IMC but there has been no monetary demand from any quarter at the personal level.
Incidentally RK Napoleon (36) s/o RK Tiken of Sagolband Tera Amudon Akham Leikai and Angom Punilkumar (39) s/o Joykumar of Porompat Thawanthaba Leikai who were suspected to be involved in the grenade attack were rounded up and thrashed by local people at the blast site last night before they were handed over to Porompat police station.
One Mahindra Bolero jeep reportedly driven by the duo was also vandalised by the mob.
Meanwhile, the Royal Riders Manipur (RRM) while admitting that RK Napoleon is a member of the group, informed that he has been expelled from the group for his alleged anti-social activity.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, RRM advisor Laishram Momocha said that what Napoleon did was done at his personal capacity and it has nothing to do with the group.
RRM convened an emergency meeting and the meeting decided to expel Napoleon from the group, Momocha said.
RRM has around 140 members and their primary agenda are protection of environment and extension of humanitarian service through adventure.
Momocha then conveyed strong displeasure over what happened at the home of IMC Chairperson A Nimai.
