Imphal, April 05 2016 :
AMSU has announced that it would ban MOBC Department from April 12 if the overdue pre-matric/post-matric scholarships for 2013-14 and 2014-15, and merit scholarships are not distributed before the deadline.
Speaking to media persons at their DM College campus office today, AMSU general secretary Manjit Sarangthem said that AMSU is deeply concerned with misappropriation of funds by MOBC Director, officials and scheme officers which otherwise should be distributed to students belonging to OBC and minorities as educational assistance.
Other States have no problem in distributing scholarships to OBC and minority students in time which are sanctioned by the Ministry of Minority Affairs and Ministry of Social Justice.
But in Manipur, scholarships given to these underprivileged students are never distributed in time.
Alleging that MOBC Director Kh Dhaneshwar has been running the department at his whim for a prolonged period, Manjit said that AMSU would no longer remain a silent spectator to such anomalies.
Saying that MOBC Department has not been complying with the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Manjit sought immediate attention of the authority concerned.
The department has been misappropriating funds sanctioned for students but AMSU would not tolerate any challenges to the student community, Manjit asserted.
