Imphal, July 02 2017: Chief of Pana Loishang, Andro Nagar Panchayat, All Andro Youth Club Association and Meira Paibi organisation have warned the villagers of Sandangsenba Maring against cultivating or using any area or land of Andro until and unless the villagers agree to reach a peaceful solution with the people of Andro .

Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club yesterday, Andro Nagar Panchayat chairperson L Lukhoi Khuman alleged that in the night of June 25, the villagers of Sandangsenba Maring damaged the road passing though the village which is one of the most important lifelines of Andro and also happens to be the shortest way to Imphal .

He further alleged that the villagers of Sandangsenba also destroyed the historical and ancient place of worship known as Chafu-Uppi and cut down all the trees in the area .

When the people of Andro, councillor, chief, Meira Paibi and clubs went to compromise with the villagers, they found police forces guarding Sandangsenba Maring village .

Denying any act of detaining the villagers of Sandang- senba Maring, Lukhoi clarified that the issue had been peacefully resolved through dialogue at Andro Pana Loishang earlier and back then, the authorities of Andro along with the security forces escorted the villagers to Sandangsenba Maring and added that the claims regarding detention of Sandang- senba Maring villagers by the people of Andro is false and baseless .

Lukhoi further accused Keirao MLA Rameshwor of announcing that the people of Sandangsenba Maring can do whatever they like in the area and said that the people of Andro condemn the MLA's action of siding with one particular party instead of trying to settle the dispute through peaceful means .

Until and unless the MLA clarifies and apologises, the people of Andro will boycott him, he added .

Lukhoi said that the villagers of Sandangsenba Maring should repair the culverts and road which they destroyed and also try to come to a peaceful resolution with Andro people otherwise the authorities of Andro will ban the villagers from using or cultivating any land belonging to Andro .

He further demanded the Andro SDC to retract the documents favouring Sandangsenba Maring at the earliest.
