ECI orders repoll in 12 PSs on April 24

Altogether 12 polling stations spread across four Assembly segments in Imphal East district will go to repoll on April 24 and one platoon of Central paramilitary forces and another platoon of State armed police would be deployed at each of these polling stations.
The CEO's recommendation to hold repoll at the 12 polling stations was approved by the ECI today.
Speaking to media persons at his Lamphelpat office today, CEO PK Singh said that the repoll will begin at 7 am and continue till 4 pm.
The 12 polling stations which would go to repoll on April 24 are Heingang AC's 2/26 Heingang Makha Leikai, 2/31 Kairang Muslim Mayai Leikai, 2/23 Heingang Mayai Leikai (A), 2/32 Kairang Muslim Mamang Leikai, 2/33 Kairang Khunou Chingya Leikai, Thongju AC's 5/32 Khongman Zone-V (B), Andro AC's 7/32 Yambem (C) and 7/39 Nungbrang and Keirao AC's 6/6 Kyamgei Mamang Leikai, 6/20 Urup Muslim, 6/10 Kyamgei Muslim (South) (A) and 6/35 Thiyam Konjil (B).
Notably, there are 9,077 total voters (4,379 male and 4,697 female) in the areas covered by the 12 polling stations.
Informing that due preparations have been completed for the repoll, the CEO said that SDCs and senior officers would preside all the polling stations.

PK Singh said that each of the 12 polling stations would be guarded by one platoon of Central paramilitary forces and another platoon of State armed police.
CCTV cameras would be installed and the polling process both inside and outside the polling stations would be webcast live, he said.
Moreover, the voting process would be directly monitored by the office of the CEO and the Imphal East DC.
The CEO then appealed to all the voters of the 12 polling stations to come out and cast their votes on April 24 freely without any fear.
Mock voting done at four polling stations before the commencement of voting on April 18 have been found not deleted.
As such, counting of votes for these polling stations would be done based on VVPATs.
With due permission from the ECI, VVPATs of the four polling stations have been kept separately.
The four polling stations for which counting of votes would be held based on VVPATs are 5/3 Thongju Ningomthong, 10/13 Lamphel Sanakeithel, 10/24 Uripok Bachaspati Leikai and 23/29 Uchiwa.
On being enquired about non-installation of CCTV cameras at the polling stations of Heingang AC, the CEO said that CCTV cameras were not installed as none of the polling stations of Heingang AC were classified as critical or vulnerable in the previous election.
Additional CEO T Ranjit, Inner Manipur PC Returning Officer N Praveen and Joint CEO Ramananda Nongmeikappam were also present at the press meet.
