Imphal, April 10 2017:
A team of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) led by its president TN Haokip today visited Sirarakhong village located within Chingai Assembly Constituency of Ukhrul district where a chunk of land sank recently thereby damaging several houses.
The team also consisted of many MPCC secretaries and party leaders.
They made a spot assessment of the damaged houses as well as other houses which are located in vulnerable areas.
Even though Works Minister Th Biswajit inspected the sunken portion of Mahadev-Tolloi road on April 8 and the BRTF restored the road at the instruction of the Works Minister, a section of the road has sunk again and a large crack can be seen in the middle of the road.

Notably, experts have already advised families residing at sunk and vulnerable areas to shift to safer places before the rainy season sets in.
After inspecting the sunk and vulnerable areas, the MPCC team held a meeting with village leaders.
Speaking at the gathering, MPCC president and MLA TN Haokip stated that rainfall has been severely affected in both the hills and valley of Manipur due to environmental degradation.
All political parties irrespective of whether they are ruling parties or Opposition parties should join hands and work collectively and help victims when natural calamities strike any part of the State, asserted the MPCC president.
He also assured all possible assistance to Sirarakhong villagers from the side of MPCC.
On behalf of MPCC, TN Haokip donated Rs one lakh to the village and the amount was handed over to the village headman.
