AR detains Minister's convoy

Imphal, February 09 2015:
24 Assam rifle personnel led by its post Commander Major Rocky today detained State Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Francis Ngajokpa's convoy at Khudengthabi check post for around 10 minutes as the Minister and his convoy were heading towards the border town of Moreh to inspect PMGSY road development programmes in the area.
The incident happen today at around 10.15 am when Francis Ngajokpa along with MLA DK Korungthang reached the Khudengthanbi check post.
They were stopped by the Assam Rifles personnel manning the check post and asked to enter the Minister and his convoy vehicle numbers in their registration book.
The Minister team pointed out that it was a Minister's convoy and they were going to Moreh to inspect the road construction works taken up under NREGS but without listening a single word, the Assam Rifles team detained them for some minutes.
Then the Minister made a call to the State Home Minister and informed about the incident.
He also called the DGP about the incident .
Post commander Major Rocky asked who was the Minister inside the vehicles.
At this, MLA Korungthang have some words with the Major and pointed out that they have no authority to stop the Minister's convoy.
This was followed by a heated altercation.
The Minister did not even get down from his vehicles.
After about 10 minutes, the convoy was allowed to proceed.
On the return journey to Imphal, SP Chandel and other police personnel were seen deployed nearby the Assam Rifles check post so that no untoward incident happens again.
