Imphal, February 09 2015:
On the eve of the Raising Day of its armed wing, the Manipur People's Army on February 9, the Military Affairs Committee of the UNLF has sent its gratefulness to the people for their unstinted support in the liberation movement.
The statement issued by UNLF MAC chairman, Khundonbam Pambei stated that the observation is in remembrance of the day that the first batch of MPA passes out from training at Chumnu Camp on February 7, 1987 .
The liberation movement against India will be successful only and when each and every individual and group participate directly or indirectly in the struggle, the release stated.
The history of a nation is build by its people and thus the history of the state is the history of the people themselves.
The people are the owner of the land and thus the fate of the liberation movement will hinge on their level of thinking and wishes.
Protection of their freedom and liberation from oppression and atrocities will be based on their efforts and participation in the struggle, it added.
Changes cannot be a gift from any outsider but will be the end product of the struggle of the people.
The UNLF will make every single effort to win the trust of the people and convince them that the party will herald positive changes, it stated.
Acknowledging past mistakes when its cadres were guilty of acting against the wishes of the people, the note stated that it led to drifting of their support.
Hence, MAC will make efforts that such unwanted incidents are not repeated, it promised.
Many individuals among the denizens of Manipur, specially those from the privileged class, have developed a high dependency level on India.
This is very dangerous for the people of the land.
The dependency syndrome has led to development of habits which oppose the ideologies of independence and self-sufficiency, the release stated.
The UNLF MAC will continue to use its strength, power and strategies to confront the Indian occupational force though prevailing conditions had let to reduction in activities in the past, it continued.
The Indian government changed its stance on facing the revolutionaries in the north east and belief on political solutions to suppress the revolutionary movement.
The IOF has stationed permanently in the WESEA region, particularly in Nagaland, Assam, and Manipur therafter.
As the revolutionary movement had been reckoned to be longish tussle, it has opted for a strategy of surgical operation through an approach of intelligence gathering, formation of small groups of military force, and new sophisticated technology.
It has turned to imprisoning the mind and hearts of the people by splurging money, building and road cons-tructions and military civic action programmes, the note stated.
Opposition to boycott of visits by prime ministers of India is a trademark of dependency on India and the State government is an example of an agency advocating such existence, it stated.
UNLF will try to free the notion of dependency from the psyche of the masses and led them collectively to understand their rights for self determination, it added.
