Chief Minister N Biren Singh has categorically stated that he will take up necessary initiatives to provide Visa to the Bangladeshi people planning to visit North East India without much complications.
The Chief Minister said this when a team of All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) and Indian Journalists' Union (IJU) called on him today.
The visiting team was led by AMWJU president K Shamjai, IJU president Geetartha Pathak and joint secretary of Indo Bangla Journalists' Forum Abdul Hadi.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister stated that he will upgrade the AMWJU office at Majorkhul to a smart building with state of the art technology such as modem elevation system, media centre, digital display board and sound system among others.
N Biren also said that he is considering increasing the pension amount of retired journalists.
About the Manipuris living in Bangladesh, the Chief Minister said that he will send a team of journalists to Bangladesh to take stock of the living condition of Manipuris in the country.
The Chief Minister also maintained that he will hold a meeting with the representatives of the Indo Bangla Journalists' Forum shortly.
