Moreh reels under viral fever

Data collected from Moreh Hospital, Primary Health Centre and the unit hospital of 31 Assam Rifles' Moreh post has revealed that many people in the border town of Moreh have been suffering from viral fever.
However, cases of malaria is lower this year as compared to last year.
On being queried at the unit hospital of 31 AR today, AR medical officers said that 70 people were found suffering from viral fever in June and another 20 people in July.
During the same period, eight people were found infected by malaria.
The recent fogging exercise undertaken by 31 AR in and around Moreh town would have helped in reducing the cases of malaria infection this year.
At Moreh Hospital, four blood samples were found positive for malaria plasmodium falciparum during June and another two in July.

Dr Shantikumar of Moreh Hospital said that cases were malaria were quite low this year as compared to previous years.
"However, the people suffering from viral fever is very high this year", he said.
The doctors said that most of the people infected by malaria, though residents of Moreh, used to go to jungles of Myanmar for fishing and production of charcoal.
