AMUCO to relive August 4 rally, calls all to join

All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) president KT Rahman, who is also the Organising Committee convenor of Manipur Integrity Day observance has called upon the people to join in the August 4 event, to be held in four districts of Manipur.
Speaking to newspersons at AMUCO officer here today, Rahman said like in the past the 14th Manipur Integrity Day observance commemorating the historic march of August 4, 1997 for protecting Manipur's territorial integrity would be held to renew pledge for combating divisive elements.
He also recounted that the Day is being observed to commemorate the massive protest rally against the hideous policy of New Delhi to drive a wedge between the people through the NSCN (IM) .
Cautioning that people that there is no respite from the threat posed to Manipur's territorial integrity by New Delhi in the latest form of UNC pursuing 'alternative arrangement', the AMUCO president said the people should remain ever vigil as there is no clarity from the Central Government on the UNC agenda under the latter's 'alternative arrangement' demand.

Rahman also warned the Government of India for continuously testing tolerance limit of the Manipuris by adopting contentious policy of pitting one community against another inspite of the fact that Manipur has had a record of sovereign existence in South East Asia.
He further reminded the Centre that no further division of Manipur would be acceptable to the people who had endured several hardships ever since its merger to India.
Expressing that apart from a handful of individuals attempting to disintegrate Manipur people of all the communities have been striving to strengthen age-old fraternal ties, Rahman also observed that demands for creating separate districts such Sadar Hills and Phungyar in addition to positive response to the ADC elections testify the people's resolve to safe-guard Manipur as a State.
Regarding the observance programme on August 4, he said after paying obeisance at the Integrity Pillar near Mapal Kangjeibung at 10 am a discussion session would be held at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen while in Bishnupur district the observance would be held at Moirang Thana Leikai in collaboration with local bodies.
For Thoubal district Integrity Day observance will be held at Yairipok Singda with a similar event at Moreh under Chandel district, he added.
