Imphal, April 05 2016 :
DESAM has accused the authority of KM Blooming Higher Secondary School of trying to cover up its faults regarding the death of its student Leishangthem Kishan of Wangkhei Thangjam Leikai.
In a statement, DESAM said that Kishan was left by his father at the school boarding on March 14 .
Kishan informed the medical section of the school that he was unwell on March 15 .
However, he was not given any treatment due to the absence of the male nurse of the medical section that day.
On March 16, the male nurse provided medicine without consulting a doctor, DESAM said.
On March 17, Kishan's parents were informed as his condition deteriorated.
However, instead of immediately hospitalising the student, the school authority waited for the arrival of his parents, DESAM said.
When Kishan reached JNIMS, his haemoglobin count was only 3.1, the student body added.
DESAM said that Kishan could have been saved had the school authority consulted a doctor on time.
After Kishan's death, Vice Principal of the school Jibon during a meeting at DESAM office admitted their mistakes and assured the students' body to publish a clarification on the newspapers on March 22 .
However, the school authority made a clarification on the newspapers hushing up all its faults on March 31, DESAM said.
Another meeting must be held with DESAM, said the student body.
