MLA hopes reconciliation between warring communities

Imphal, November 04 2023: Stating that the state government is endeavouring to initiate talks between the two warring communities to bring about a peaceful solution to the present crisis in the state, Hiyanglam MLA Dr Y Radheshyam has expressed hope of a positive outcome of the proposed talk.

MLA Dr Radheshyam was speaking during distribution of chemically-treated mosquito nets to inmates of relief camps opened in different parts of Kakching, Imphal West and Bishnupur districts organised by The New Leaf Association under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation, on Saturday.

The function was attended by New Leaf Association project coordinator Ngangbam Robert, Kakching SDO M Ingocha and social worker Y Niflamani among others.

MLA Dr Radheshyam further stated that the present crisis in the state have put all developmental works to a standstill.

In order to take part in the competition for development, the two warring groups need to initiate talks and try to bring about an understanding.

The central and state governments have been trying their level best to initiate talks between the two communities in conflict and it is believed that the proposed talk would bring positive outcomes and restore peace in the strife torn state.

Maintaining that peace is required to live together as one, the MLA said that Meiteis despite being enraged to the extreme, being the majority community, should forgive and help in restoring peace in the state.

Moreover, the state government should also take up all necessary security measures to ensure no unwanted incident occur, he maintained.

Inmates of the relief camp opened in Langmeidong were also handed over pension cards, labour cards, widow cards and disability certificate.
