AMSU bans Phundrei High School project work

As part of its 'Campaign for total education', All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) on Friday assessed construction of new structures of Phundrei High School, which is located in Wangjing Tentha AC.
During the inspection visit, the AMSU representatives observed that the project work was not up to the mark in terms of quality control and consequently announced ban on construction of the new boys & girls' hostels and staf quarters.
Speaking to media persons in this regard, AMSU Human Resource Development secretary Mani Ningthoujam opined that as that Manipur falls under the high seismic zone and has been periodically experiencing frequent earthquakes of varying intensity, the construction agency compromising quality of the hostel blocks and staf quarters is strongly condemnable.
While posing who will take the responsibility if any unfortunate incidents happen, he also described as surprising that head master of the school was not aware under which scheme the new structures in the school were being constructed.
The AMSU secretary also asked the contractor as well the SO entrusted to oversee the construction works and all ofcials of the department concerned to report to the AMSU ofce within fve days.
Asserting that AMSU has banned the construction of the new structures with immediate efect, Mani also urged the people to support the initiatives taken up by AMSU for the welfare of student community and also to take the responsibility for making the students have a sense of patriotism and become good students.
