Covid-19 vaccination, tests conducted

Imphal, May 08 2021: Covid-19 vaccination programme is going on in full swing at Thongju assembly constituency under the aegis of works minister and Thongju MLA T Biswajit.

The vaccination programme is being conducted at Konok Khongnangkhong, Thongju Part II Urban Health Centre since May 4 .

Assuring that the vaccination programme will be held in other parts of the AC, T Biswajit said that public should be very cautious during the second wave and get vaccinated to protect themselves from Covid-19 .

He further stated that medical experts have expressed that even if vaccinated people get infected by Covid-19 they can recover fast.

Meanwhile, Health Department organised a free Covid-19 testing camp at Kwakeithel Akham Leikai community hall under Sagolband AC on Saturday.

In all, 50 people got tested on the first day of the programme.

In view of the surging Covid-19 positive cases in the state, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Lamlai Mandal will also be organising awareness programmes on Covid-19 across Lamlai AC on Sunday.

In a release, BJP Lamlai Mandal secretary LC Achanba said that the rising number of positive cases in the state is of huge concern and as such, it is not the time to stay in our homes in the name of curfew.

During the awareness programmes which will commence from 6 am onwards, hand gloves, facemasks, sanitisers, etc, will also be distributed to the people.

The secretary then appealed to the locals, the police department and other administrative departments to extend their support to the awareness programmes, while urging all concerned to keep aside political differences and make concerted efforts for keeping the pandemic under control.
