House reduced to ashes in fire

Churachandpur, May 23 2021:
A mud house with thatched roof was reduced to ashes in a fire that broke out at Geljang village around 9:30 am on Sunday.
Upon receiving the information, a team of Churachandpur police rushed to the village and found the dwelling house completely reduced to ashes.
As per the statements of the village chief, L Khaikholien Haokip, and the house owner, Prakash; some 4-5 unknown people were trying to steal a beehive from the wall of the house.
The owner of the house, who was milking his cows at the time, heard some noises coming from his house and when he went to check he saw the suspects fleeing the scene.
It was also reported that the fire started as soon as they ran away, leaving the house engulfed in flames and reduced to cinders within no time.
In this connection, Churachandpur police has registered a case under FIR No.55(5)2021 CCP-PS u/s 436/427/34 IPC.
Further investigation is on to nab the culprits at the earliest.
Rs 50,000 in cash, four bags of rice, one necklace, two closets, three beds and kitchen utensils were among the items lost in the fire.
