Imphal, May 08 2021:
A special team of six student bodies (AMSU, AIMS, DESAM, KSO, SUK and MSF) on Saturday visited different hospitals and assessed the healthcare services provided to non-Covid patients and inconveniences faced by the hospitals and patients during the current pandemic.
The team visited Imphal Hospital and Research Centre, Mother's Care Children Hospital and Sky Hospital & Research Centre on Saturday and found these hospitals functioning properly.
Interacting with media, a representative of the special team said that there was no emergency service at Imphal Hospital and Research Centre but has three oxygen cylinders for emergency use.
Non-Covid patients are screened and test conducted based on temperature reading.
There were eight ICU beds and one ventilator.
Positive cases from among the patients are referred to Imphal West CMO.
Mother's Care Children Hospital provides healthcare services to all non-Covid patients and the hospital also has adequate ICU and oxygen facilities.
Doctors, nurses and staff are tested for Covid on weekly basis, the student representative said.
Sky Hospital and Research Centre accepts non-Covid patients after RAT test.
It has five ventilators and adequate oxygen facilities, he added.
Informing that the team will visit other hospitals too, the student representative appealed to the government to ensure proper provision of healthcare services in private hospitals for non-Covid patients during the pandemic.
