MLA supports Loktak Protection Act

Even if the Loktak Protection Act gives many hardships to the fishermen in and around the lake, it should not be exterminated completely, but modify some clause by relaxing some clause which affects the fishermen's livelihood.
Speaking to reporters in his office chamber at Old Secretariat, MLA Mangibabu said that the Steering Committee of the Loktak Development Authority in special meeting had already discussed the act and its clauses which may affect the livelihood of the fishermen in and around the lake.
The committee will proposed a Bill regarding the act in the upcoming assembly session to discuss the necessity and adversity of the act.
Speaking of a bridge which will connect Karang with the rest of the state, he said that Chief Minister himself had declared that the state govenrmenmt will be constructing the bridge.
Unfortunately, the government is unable to fulfill its assurance due to shortage of funds since the total cost of the bridge will go up more than 100 crore.
Government even planned to construct road connectivity under the Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana to which, environmentalist refuse to give clearance from its side.
He said that the present PHSC at Karang will soon be upgraded to PHC level.
And for the meantime, the government had instructed doctors in Thanga PHC to visit the PHSC at Karang twice in every week to prove proper health services to the people of the island village of the state.
