Restore age-old Meetei shrines: ULYL

Umanglai Laiphamlen Yokkhat Lup has urged all concerned to immediately halt destruction of shrines/temples of Meetei community, which had been in existence'since time immemorial and to see to the restoration of the affected shrines to its previous grandeur.
In a press meet held at Manipur Press Club here Thursday, Lup general secretary Luwang Punshiba said that since the May 3 clashes occurred, various age-old shrines such as Jaipham Churachandpur, Kondong Lairembi Moreh, Koubru, Koubru Leikha, Sanamahi Khumujamba Khul, Thinungei Laimanai Ching, Nungthong Laiphamlen in Serou and Nsapat Lairembi Maikei Ngakpa have been burnt to smithereens, in addition to the torching of Laniningthou Leimarel mini-shrines worshipped in every Meetei home.
Condemning the act, he questioned the connection between the need to target such age-old religious places amid any conflict, especially with the level of civilisation humankind is presently at.
The agenda of Kuki narco-terrorists is to annihilate all the indigenous communities of Manipur, he said.
