A one day workshop on Solar Thermal System organised by the Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency (MANIREDA) was held today at Hotel Classic, Imphal.
Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayentakumar and Commissioner Science and Technology H Imocha graced the function as chief guest and president respectively.Director, Ministry of Renewable Energy Dr Santaram, Director MNRE (NE Region) Dr DR Das, Under Secretary MNRE (NER) Premchand, Commissioner State Arts and Culture RK Nimai and Director MANIREDA L Manglem also attended the function as guests of honour.
In a speech, minister L Jayentakumar said that electric power has become an essential commodity of the people in today's world.
In a state like Manipur where the adequate and uninterrupted power supply is still a remote dream, MANIREDA's venture in providing inexhaustible renewable energy in the form of electric power is very praiseworthy.
MANIREDA had successfully provided power supply to remote hill areas by installing Micro Hydel Project and Solar Power Plant.
He said that power is needed in every sector of life be it in hospital, offices, schools or for domestic and commercial purposes.
It is very important to have uninterrupted power supply in treatment and performing surgery of patients in the hospitals.
The present situation of power supply is not trustworthy.
Reminding the present condition of power supply in the state, he expressed his belief that MANIREDA will continue its venture in providing renewable power sources in every nook and corner of the state.
Commissioner Arts and Culture RK Nimai said that power is very important in the race of development.
No society can compete other society in the run of development if there is no or inadequate power supply.
No big industries can be successfully installed in the state with the shortage electricity being faced by the state.
Most of the powers consumed in the state are used in domestic purposes.
In such state, it is very important to produce electric energy with the help of Solar Power Thermal Energy in the state.
T Ananta, CEO, Nutech Solar System Private Limited, Bangalore talked on the working principle of Solar Water Heating System, its installation and maintenance as part of the workshop.
