Enquiry on into NIT clash

The dispute and subsequent clash between groups of students at NIT Langol is being enquired and in the meantime normalcy has returned to the hostel where the quarrel took place, said Principal Secretary (Home) Suresh Babu.
Speaking to media persons at the office chamber of DGP Sahid Ahmad today, Suresh Babu said that tiffs among students is a common occurrence in all educational institutions.
The confrontation stemmed from a dispute while queuing up for dinner.
The confrontation was not between local and non-local students but between two groups inclusive of both local and non-local students.

Normal classes have resumed as usual.
To assuage the confidence of non-local students, CRPF personnel would be deployed around the hostel on temporary basis, he said.
Altogether eight students; three locals and five non-local students, were injured in the fight.
They have now joined class as their injuries were minor ones.
He also appealed to all parents of non-local students not to be unnecessarily apprehensive.
The Chief Minister had personally visited the hostel and inspected the situation, Suresh Babu said and added that efforts are on to set up a Students� Council.
DGP Sahid Ahmad and NIT Director YS Rajan were also present at the press meet.
