The oath taking and get together ceremony of the newly elected office bearers of United Committee Manipur (UCM) for the ensuing 4th term, 2012-2015 was held at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound here today.

Yumnam Nabachandra has been elected as the President and Khumanthem Chandramani as the General Secretary of UCM.
The elected office bearers were sworn in by C Upendra, retired Judge today.
Speaking on the occasion as Chief Guest, C Upendra said that as long as the peace talk between the NSCN-IM and the India Government continues, there will be no peace in Manipur.
Ever since the Indo-Naga peace talk began, there has always been issues rising up concerning the territorial integrity of the state and the state has always been in serious tensions.
He further pointed out that there had been case of extending the cease fire between the NSCN-IM and the Union Government to Manipur, thereby inviting tension in the state where it led to the death of 18 persons on June 18, 2001.Again, the case of Supra State came up.
However, all the issues subsided with the intervention of various CSOs and the reaction of the general public.
So as long as the peace talk between the two parties remains, the CSOs of the state need to remain on high alert.
The retired Judge maintained that participation of N George, retired Chairman, Cease Fire Monitoring Cell, on the occasion of the floral tribute paid to the deceased persons of 'Mao Gate incident' on May 6, has indicated there is certainly some hidden agendas.
The oath taking ceremony was also attended by Yumnamcha Dilipkumar, President UCM and Sapamcha Jadumani, founder President of UCM as President and Guest of Honour respectively.
