Moreh, January 28:
One Manipuri was found shot dead in no man's land along the international boundary between India and Myanmar under Moreh police station today.
The spot where the corpse was recovered is located in between Angala Prameshwari temple and the Sunrise Youth Club under Moreh ward no 2 .
On receiving information of the recovery, a police team led by SDPO Rameshwar and OC Abdul Kalam went to the spot after informing their Myanmarese counter parts.
Together with Myanmar officials, the police team verified details of the deceased there before it was brought to Moreh.
According to information culled from the site, people in the nearby area heard gun shots at about 8.30 pm yesterday.
Following the gun shots, security personnel posted in the area could be heard barking orders.
The deceased has been identified as one Laishram Omesh alias Jayenta (35) son of late Sarat of Keishamthong Hodam Leirak, Imphal.
There was a fatal bullet mark in the mouth of the deceased.
Shortly after the corpse was retrieved, a meeting of leaders of different communities was held at Yawa Mahal of Moreh PS.
The meeting condemned the killed of Omesh in the strongest term.
The community leaders also demanded that group or individuals involved in the killing should come out with an explicit clarification.
The meeting further resolved that all the communities of the border town should work together to maintain peace and harmony in Moreh.
