Bailey bridge built under PMGSY inaugurated

A bailey bridge constructed anew under PMGSY at Ichaigoyang under Saikul sub-division of Senapati district was inaugurated today.
The inaugural function was attended by RD&PR Minister Francis Ngajokpa, Saikul AC MLA Yamthong Haokip, Principal Secretary (RD&PR) JC Ramthanga and Manipur State Rural Roads Development Agency (MSRRDA) Chief Engineer N Bapuchand as chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
Speaking at the inaugural function, JC Ramthanga stated that PMGSY was introduced in the State on December 25, 2000.The scheme aims at constructing all-weather roads for all villages/hamlets which have minimum populace of 500 in plain areas and 250 in hill areas.

MSRRDA is the implementing agency as far as construction of roads under PMGSY is concerned.
Altogether 141 PMGSY road projects were sanctioned for Senapati district.
The total length of these roads is 1185 Kms and the aggregate estimated cost is Rs 410 crore.
Out of the total projects, 27 fall within Saikul block.
The bailey bridge inaugurated today carries package number MNO-601 of the 8th phase of PMGSY.
The bridge was constructed at the cost of Rs 1.15 crore approximately.
The bridge will connect five villages, Ramthanga said.
