Imphal, December 14: Thoubal District Police Commandos have arrested six activists of the proscribed People's United Liberation Front (PULF) and seized the Tata DI in which they were transporting blankets and other store items which were allegedly brought from the house of a Minister today morning.

The arrested six PULF activists have been identified as Md Aslam alias Ali alias Malik (21) s/o Md Abdul Basir of Keirao Awang leikai, Md Firoz Khan alias Amu (18) s/o Md Jamuruddin of Keirao Makting Makha Leikai, Md Nanao alias Hassan (18) s/o Md Alimuddin of Keirao Makting Mang Maya, MV Alimuddin (47) s/o late Md Anamuddin of Kiyamgei Makha Leikai, Md Habibur Rahman (40) s/o late Md Kashim Ali of Kiyamgei Makha Leikai and Khaidem Tombi Singh alias Nanao (21) s/o Kh Yaiskul of Keirao.

A case has also been registered at Lilong Police Station in this connection.

Parading the arrested PULF activists along with the seized items in front of mediapersons at Thoubal District Police Headquarters later in the afternoon, a police officer said during the course of interrogation Md Habibur Rahman disclosed that the seized items were brought from the house of a Minister at around 7.30 and they were taking them to the Chief Project Officer (CPO) of the outfit.

Seized items on display included 20 blankets and two plastic tripans.

Meanwhile, according to a statement issued by SP of Thoubal District Dr S Ibocha Singh, the district police of Thoubal and Commandos Thoubal intercepted the Tata DI (MN-01K/5112) near Waithou Bazar following a tip off that some blankets and other store items of PULF were being transported from Imphal to Sora.

On questioning the driver of the vehicle identified as Khaidem Tombi Singh alias Nanao (21) s/o Kh Yaiskul of Keirao stated that his vehicle was hired by one Md Aslam alias Ali alias Malik (21) s/o Md Abdul Basir of Keirao Awang Leikai to go from Imphal to Sora.

But on further interrogation, Tombi disclosed that he is a member of PULF and he hired the vehicle for Rs 1,500 for the purpose of transporting 20 blankets and two plastic tripans for the outfit from Imphal to a camp of the outfit at Sora.
