Imphal, May 19 2013:
While emphasizing the need for reviving the Manipur University Student's Union (MUSU) which was abolished in 2009, Students' Union of Kangleipak (SUK) has alleged that authorities of Manipur University (MU) have converted the lone varsity in the state into a place for making illegal money by taking the advantage of the closure of the student's union.
Involvement of faculty members and administrators of MU in construction works and providing rotten foods to hostellers are common knowledge to all.
Moreover, the conduct of concealing the problems faced by students of the university is a loss for the student's community of Manipur.
Since the abolition of the union, the voice of the students of the university has also been suppressed, Supreme Hang, Secretary Publicity of SUK said in a release.
Revival of MUSU is an urgent necessity of the institute to bridge the prevailing communication gap between the students and teachers of the university and also to redress the problems of students', Supreme Hang added.
