, SEP 2 (HNS): A Joint consultative meeting of Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) with Tangkhul Frontal Organisations was held on Wednesday at TNL Office, Ukhrul.
According to press statement issued by TNL General Secretary Nobert Khayi, the Tangkhul community strongly condemned the passing of three "anti tribal bills" by the Manipur Legislative Assembly on August 31.The State Government is also trying to invalidate the recent peace accord signed between Government of India and National Socialist Council of Nagalim or NSCN (IM), said the press note.
Nobert said that the meeting decided to notify the Tangkhul MLAs to resign from their respective seats within 30 days since they had gone against the people's interest on the issue and for "betraying the whole Tangkhul community" .
"If MLAs failed to resign within 30 days, the Tangkhul bodies will be compelled to launch strong forms of agitation," Nobert warned.
The Tangkhuls have supported the agitation in Churachandpur against MLAs from the District.
The organisations also condoled the death of the martyrs who "stood proudly and sacrificed their lives" for the protection of their land, the statement said.
The Tangkhul organisations slammed the State Government for creating a volatile situation in the State.
He said "Ibobi led Government is a total failure, Manipur has become a lawless State".
Many innocent peoples were killed by the security forces and pointed out the cases of Mayopam and Ramkasing, Ukhrul; Sapam Robinhood and another seven persons in Churachandpur town.
The Tangkhul organisations demanded the Government of India to intervene on the matter and immediately impose "President's Rule" in the State and criticized the shutting down of internet in the hills.
"Such act is another way to manipulate and deprive the people of Right to Information", said Nobert.
It was further appealed the MLA T Ranjit to clarify his statement given in the Assembly floor which had insulted the whole Naga community in Manipur.
They demanded an apology from the MLA.
CHANDEL: Chandel civil society organisations vehemently condemned the act of security personnel against protesters in Churachandpur.
In separated statements, Chandel Naga Peoples' Organisation (CNPO) President WS Kanral; All Tribal Chiefs' and Public Grievance Forum, Chandel District President of SNG Lumdil and Anal Students Union President L Manahring said that the three Bills passed by Manipur Legislative Assembly was against the tribals.
The Chandel people will socially boycott the tribal MLAs for remaining silent and not staging a walkout during the Assembly session.
The organisations demanded the Government to suspend all the police personel involving in the killing of protesters.
They also urged to constitute a judicial inquiry over the incident.
The organisations further condemned the imposition of 144 CrPC in the Chandel district.
The organisations said they will extend support to any form of agitation as per the decision taken by any organisations against the three Bills passed.
On behalf of the Chandel people, the organisations offered condolences to the family members of those who died in the firing.
They appealed the public to contribute and donate for the families of the victims.
