Rural Health Organisation conferred with 21st All India Bhagwan Mahaveer Award

The Rural Health Organisation (RHO), Naoremthong Laishram Leirak Imphal has been conferred with the "21st All India Bhagwan Mahaveer Award 2018" in the filed of community and social service by Nhagwan Mahaveer Foundation, Chennai.
The award was presented by Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu to the general secretary of the RHO Dr Heigrujam Indramani Singh in an award distribution function held in Chennai today, said a statement of Dr P Ningthemjao Singh, chairman RHO, Naoremthong, Imphal today.
The award is given in recognition of the outstanding welfare services undertaken by the Rural Health Organisation in the promotion of health and socio-economic status of the rural, poor urban and tribal people of Manipur.
The award carries a cash prize, a memento and a citation.
It may be mentioned that, the Rural Health Organisation has been serving the people of the State for more than 32 years since its establishment in 1986 in the filed of substance abuse, HIV/AIDS, women and children welfare, health, environment, welfare of youths and aged people.
The various major services extended by the organisation include Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (30 bedded de-addiction centre), Swadhar Greh, a shelter home for disadvantaged women and girls, Rural Homoeo Dispensary, Primary Health Care Centre, Mobile Clinic for Schedule Tribes, Mobile Clinic for Elderly people, Vocational Training for women and girls etc.
RHO has also received various National and State awards such as 'National Award for Child Welfare 2003, 5th All India Spirit of Humanity Award 2014 in Women Health Category, National Award for Best Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts 2016 and State Environment Award 2015, said the statement.
