Imphal, December 02 2018:
Concerned with the Myanmar encroachment at Haolenphai village, Moreh, social worker Ng Haokip has asked the Chief Minister for his intervention in the matter at the earliest.
In his open letter to the Chief Minister, Ng Haokip highlighted that the failure of the Assam Rifles and the district administration to intervene and solve the issue.
Being a border area, there should be BSF, he said and alleged that Assam Rifles stationed there is "against the rule of law".
The Government of India is mum on the issue and the local MLA too is silent on the issue, he said asking the Chief Minister too take up necessary steps to protect the land and stop Myanmar personnel from entering the village.
It may be mentioned that recently Myanmar authorities reportedly warned the villagers to stop construction of a house in the village alleging that it was in "undemarcated land".
Myanmar authorities had also asked the ADC Moreh and other officials to stop the construction work at Haolenphai.
Villagers had reacted that a villager is building a residential house on his property and land belonging to the village and Manipur.
The village chief and owner of the house under construction had also said that they will not stop the construction work and Myanmar has no authority over the land of the village which is in Manipur.
