Rs 3 crore looted from Axis Bank in Ccpur

Amidst the unrest situation in the state since May 3, miscreants report-edly looted cash and gold ornaments worth over Rs 3 crore from the Churachan-dpur branch of Axis Bank.
According to informa-tion received here, the Axis Bank branch was found looted on Monday by the staff when they re-opened it after remaining closed for two months.
The miscreants had not done any damage to the front door (main entrance) of the bank.
However, they dug out the rear end of the bank's wall, through which they entered and decamped with the looted cash and ornaments.
Staff of the bank in-formed that since the bank manager was not present, they could not ascertain the actual amount stolen by the miscreants from the bank.
The reports further in-formed that FIR will be lodged at Churachandpur police station on the theft case by the bank author-ities.
Meanwhile, statement of the Police Control Room clarified that the Axis Bank case in Churachandpur is not robbery but burglary.
The bank was closed since May 4 and opened only on Monday after more than two months.
It was found that after breaking the ven-tilator of the bathroom, some suspects entered the strong room of the bank through the bathroom and made a hole on the wall of the strong room.
The door and lock of the strong room were found intact.
Proper investigation will be conducted after ar-rival of manager of the bank with the keys of the strong room.
Any loss is not yet ascertained till now, the control room elaborated.
It may be mentioned that miscreants also looted the Manipur State Cooperative Bank in Churachandpur on May 16 and took away around Rs 11.7 lakh in cash.
