Chandel, December 29 2013:
Refuting the claim made by some civil societies of Moreh in connection with allocation of fund under Border Region Grant Fund (BRGF), District Vigilance Committee (DVC), Chandel reiterated that BRGF fund allocation has not been well estimated in accordance to the population.
Citing example, DVC said that when Khengjoy Block which comprises 20,067 rural population has been allocated only Rs 86 lakhs in 2013-2014 and Chakpikarong block having population of 32,872 has been allocated only Rs 2.51 crore and Machi with a rural population of 19865 got only Rs 2.40 Crores; Moreh Block with a mere population of 6,037 has been allocated Rs 3.69 Crores.
Issuing a statement in this regard, DVC President BD Betha said that the claim that Moreh started receiving Centrally Sponsored Schemes only from 2012 is totally baseless as per the report uploaded in the web portal.
Moreh Block has been enjoying many flagships Programme like BRGF, SGSY (SHG), MSDP, NREGS, BADP and others since the launched of the schemes.
If the Public of Moreh does not get these schemes, they can go to the MDC and Block office and check how much funds have been sanctioned by the Centre.
Betha further stated that if the claim of receiving the schemes only from 2012 is true, then a table round discussion can be held to find out the truth and chalk out plans to punish the responsible officers for misusing the fund meant for the public.
Betha observed that anybody from the blocks can be a member of the Vigilance committee.
However, he or she must be willing to fight for the people's right.
DVC has also drawn the attention of all tribal civil organizations including UNC, KIM, ATSUM, ANSAM and KSO to check as to how non tribal got settle in the land of the Tribals and claimed for the Centrally Sponsored Schemes which are not entitled for them.
