4 KRA men behind Tuesday oil tankers attack arrested

State police has today arrested four cadres of KRA who were involved in the incident of firing at oil tankers last Tuesday at S Golai located between Kangpokpi and Changoubung along NH-2.According to a police statement, the KRA cadres were arrested from Kangpokpi at around 4 am by a combined team of Kangpokpi police led by H Balram, SP Kangpokpi and commandos teams from Imphal East and Imphal West led by Additional SP (Ops) Imphal East, K Meghachandra and OC, commando Imphal East B Lunthang Vaiphai.
Five mobile handsets and nine sim cards were seized from their possession.
The arrested KRA cadres were identified as s/s sgt major Demminthang Haokip, 38, son of Ningthoujam Gobardhan Singh of Kangpokpi Ward No 12; s/s lance corporal Sagoulal Baite, 30, son of Lhunjang Baite of L.Lhangom village under Saikul sub division; s/s private Hengoulen Haokip alias Haosapa alias Yago, 18, son of Jangmang Haokip of Satang Kuki village and s/s private Thanglanmoi Chongloi alias Calvin, 30, son of Kaikam Chongloi of Taphou Kuki village.
According to the police statement, the four persons were involved in the firing of gunshots at oil tankers at S Golai in association with suspected KNA (F) cadres, kidnapping of drivers and detention of vehicles belonging to betel leaf traders for extortion and IED explosions at the houses of the traders in association with KCP (Lalheiba), levy collection at Hengbung Check post, extortion from goods vehicles along NH 2, firing at Satyam Industry with the intention for extortion and firing at passenger vehicles at Henbung for non compliance of their demands.
The arrested persons reportedly disclosed that they were working together with KCP (Lalheiba) and KNF (N) in taking up pre-judicial activities including extortion with an understanding to share the proceeds.
