Consultation on tenable electoral reforms in Manipur held

Imphal, October 18 2015:
A consultation programme on tenable electoral reforms with reference to Manipur's Phungyar Constituency was held at the on October 17 last in Arts Faculty, University of Delhi.
Around 200 elders, government employees, private employees, scholars, student union leaders, social workers, entrepreneurs, students and well-wishers attended the programme.
The participants vouched for bringing positive development oriented change, ushering in free and fair election in the forthcoming State Assembly Election in 2017 .
The participants also called on all to eradicate corruption while practicing inclusive mass involvement, providing informed choice to the mass, non-interference from any external force, electing young, dynamic, credible, practical and socializing candidate, involving all stake holders including elders, youth, Church, women, etc.
It was decided to hold programmes in near future at block and village levels.
The consultative programme was moderated by Thothuingam Shinglai, a research scholar from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).

Prof., Jamia Millia Islamia; Chansa Makan, Asst.
Prof., University of Delhi; Justin Jamang, Asst.
Prof., University of Delhi and Lakpachui Siro, Research Scholar, NEUPA, New Delhi.
The first consultation was held at The Classic Hotel, Imphal, Manipur on August 28 and it was participated by around 200 people.
Dr Rimai Joy, Director, Research and Training, Ardent Foundation said the consultation was an initiative of the learned youth, with the purpose of inclusive mass involvement.
