Students demand ouster of BSEM chairman

Imphal, May 16 2011:
Over 50 students of different schools in Imphal attempted to storm the BSEM office at Babupara today as part of the agitations demanding textbooks.
Students of three schools, Free Progress Academy, Konthoujam, Saklon School, Waiton and Sunrise Public School, Uripok Khaidem Leikai took part in the bid to storm the board office this afternoon with placards in their hands.
A police team led by Imphal PS OC, Meghabarna intercepted the students before they reached the board office and the OC convinced the students to disperse.
The students blamed the officials of the board for not taking interest in dealing with the non-availability of text books.
Meanwhile, MSF, DESAM, AMSU and KSA today demanded removing the charge of BSEM chairman from Principal Secretary (Education-S), Suresh Babu, alleging him of not working in the interest of the
students.
Briefing the media at the AMSU HQs, DM College, they said, he should be replaced immediately.
