Education (S) service books to be digitised ; No salary for those who fail to submit service books by March 10

In an attempt to eliminate corrup-tion/malpractices, Education (S) is planning to digitise the service books of its emplo- yees, and computerise and upload information to its website.
According to information received by The Sangai Express from an official source, Director of Education (S) Th Kirankumar has issued a notification on December 29 last year stating that employees who fail to submit their service books to the department through their concerned ZEOs will not be included in the pre- paration of pay bills for March which will be paid in April.
The source pointed out that the digitisation process of the employees' service books will begin from today and the step will eliminate the inconveniences faced by the Department in case of loss of service books or while issuing new service books.
It will also help the process of updating the service books in time and also in timely settlements of employees' pensions on retirement, the source stated adding that the step will also help eradicate forgery/ manipulation the service books and impersonations.
The source explained that before the service books are submitted to the ZEOs concerned, the Head of Office/Head of School must check and record all the necessary details, including educational quali- fication and number of holidays taken by the said employees.
Those who are slated for retirement on December 31 this year or before will be required to submit their service books for digitisa-tion, the source conveyed.
According to the notice, all the ZEOs must submit the service books of the employees to the Directorate by March 10 .
The notice also directed the ZEOs concerned not to include the employees who fail to submit their service books before March 10, in the preparation of pay bills for the month of March which is payable in the month of April.
The original service books of the employees will be kept in the Directorate's central records room after proper digitisation and the certified copy /photocopy of the service books can be taken by the employees after paying requisite fees, the source added.
