Imphal, July 01 2011:
The custom Preventive Force office in Moreh was attacked by suspected Kuki UGs in the evening of Thursday, said a police source from the trading town.
The police source stated that custom superintendent RK Dharendrajit has lodged a formal complaint with Moreh police station about the attack and a case has been registered by the police station.
Later, the area was combed by the police but no arrest was made.
On June 30 at about 7.30 pm, two armed men went to the custom office inquiring about the superintendent.
When the office staff said that he was away, the two men fired several rounds from a 9 mm pistol and fled from the scene, said the police, adding that no casualty was reported.
A reliable source from the custom office said the firing incident could be the handiwork of a newly formed Kuki underground outfit that had given a monetary demand some days ago.
Meanwhile, a Mizo woman was arrested Thursday around 12.45 pm from Suangdoh check post about 27 km west of Churachandpur police station by 29 Assam Rifles while frisking.
The woman has been identified as Ngailiankim aka Kiki (25), wife of Lamguan-suung of Tuirial Airfield in Mizoram.
260 SPL ordinary detonators, 90 gelatin sticks and 34.45 meter of safety fuse were recovered from her.
She has been handed over to Churachandpur police station with the recovered items.
