Imphal, September 26 2018:
Film Forum Manipur (FFM) has declared today that Manipuri films without certification from Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) will not be allowed to exhibit anywhere in the State from December 2, 2019 onwards.
It also announced that it with blacklist those DVD stockists/distributors which are not associated with the FFM by October 15 this year.
Addressing a press meet held today at FFM office located at Shankar Talkies Hall, Lamphelpat, the Chairman of the forum S Mangoljao Singh informed that the decisions were taken during a meeting of all the forum's executives today in consideration of various problems and inconveniences faced by the producers, directors, artists of Manipuri Film as well as the forum.
He said that the FFM allowed exhibition Manipuri Films even without certification from CBFC since the past many months in protest against the 'ignorance' of the authorities concerned to the demand/proposal of the forum for keeping a CBFC's regional office in Imphal.
However, the move/protest has posed as a serious threat to the Manipuri Film world as production of only five to six films have been taken into account by the CBFC due to its regulation that it does not recognize any film that are not certified by it.
Consequently this will be a loss for everyone related with Manipuri Film, be it the producers, directors or artists, he pointed out and announced that Manipuri films without CBFC certification will not be allowed to exhibit in halls and public places.
