The All Manipur Students Union has alleged that the Gas Agencies in Manipur have been cheating the consumers by keeping the 'booking date' static while regularly publishing availability of gas through newspapers.
Addressing a press conference at its head office here this evening, Vice President of the student body Md Abdul Haque Shah informed that AMSU has detected numerous discrepancies from the 'news of gas delivery' published in newspapers from October 8 to December 17 this year.
According to the findings, Hrangchal Gas Agency delivered gas to the public seven times during the period from October 8 to December 17 only to those consumers who did the booking between June 10 and July 5, although the stock of gas with the agency on all delivery days was 612 .

The list of gas news collected by AMSU correspond to the period people of the state were suffering under the crippling impact of economic blockade and one cylinder of domestic cooking gas was sold as high as Rs 2000 in the black market.
The reason behind the static booking dates as maintained by the Gas Agencies needs to be critically examined and the government should take up necessary actions against the Gas Agencies for cheating the consumers, he demanded.
