Food and Industries Cooperation of Manipur vice-chairman K Sarat examined the water treatment plant located at Bidyanagar in Jiribam district today morning.
The officer was inspecting the water treatment plant, which started its construction in 2011 under Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme of Small and Medium Town (UIDSSMT) and has been lying unfinished till present day, reports our correspondent.
K Sarat, while speaking to media persons, stated that the water treatment plant will bring relief to the people of Jiribam from the lack of supply of fresh drinking water in the district.
However, the construction of the water treatment plant, which the previous Government initiated in 2011 by removing a sericulture farm to establish the plant, has been lying unfinished which in turn has caused immense inconveniences to the people.
Claiming that the previous Government also turned a cashew nut development farm, next to the water treatment plant, into a sports field adding that the field is not open too.
He added that the removal of the sericulture farm and the cashew nut development farm is not only a huge loss for the people of Jiribam but also for the State, which is quite unfortunate.
The officer informed that the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) and the Bamboo Chipping Plan in Kadamtala, Jiribam will be inspected tomorrow.
