Blind lad finds saviour in education

Ukhrul, September 16 2014:
RS Dearson of Ukhrul, who was born blind, found education to be a big help which ensure every individual is sell dependent even though one may have different health problems from birth.
The ambitious lad started his schooling at the age of 12 and graduated this year.
In an exclusive interaction with this correspondent in Ukhrul, Dearson elaborated on the endurance, hardships and struggles he had to face during his education.
Among the six children of RS Thomas Ngainga, a resident of Khaiyiashat, Ukhrul, Dearson is the second child and apart from him, his sister Yoamila and younger brother Chikat too were bom blind.

The parents were hesitant to send him to school yet his enthusiasm obligated them to get him admitted to Ideal Blind school Takyel, Imphal at the age of 12.After his matriculation in 2009, he was admitted at Model Higher Secondary school, Imphal.
He scored letter marks in Manipuri (MIL) in XII standard examination, completed graduation in'Political Science from Oriental College, Imphal and passed in III division from Manipur University 2014 .
Apart from general education, Dearson holds diploma certificate in Computer, TET certificate and is undergoing DIET training at Raphei Model High School, Ukhrul: Though Braille books were not readily available and very expensive, Dearson stated that modem electronic devices like computer, mobile phone etc helped him to a great extent.
Aiming for the Civil Service, Dearson expressed his confidence to face the competitive examination and serve the people at his level.
