Imphal, August 14 2016:
The Joint Action Committee against the mur-
der of M Jamkholal alias George Zou has
submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Chief
Minister demanding to take up necessary ac-
tion against the responsible group(s) or
individual(s) involved in the brutal murder of
M Jamkholal, reports our correspondent.
The JAC stated that M Jamkholal who
was a senior member of United Kuki Lib-
eration Front(UKLF) had gone to Moreh to
attend to personal matters but was brutally
murdered on July 2 after he was abducted
from a hotel allegedly by some cadres of
Kuki National Organisation (KNO).
His de-
composed body was found on July 6 along
Menal river, near Indo-Myanmar border.
The deceased family members had regis-
tered an FIR at Moreh police station on July
7 but nothing has been done to nab the
involved persons till date.
Kuki CSOs of Chandel district had con-
ducted a joint meeting on August 9 and
unanimously formed a JAC.
The peaceful environment that has pre-
vailed within the Kuki community since the
two armed groups signed the tripartite SoO
agreement with the Government and had a
solemn covenant at Tengnoupal village is
what the people wish to restore through the
State Government's intervention, the memo-
randum said.
The genuine demand of the JAC should
be looked into or else the JAC would be
compelled to intensify the agitation, it
added.
