The Makhuan Students' Union, Tamenglong district has asserted that the ongoing construction of railway track within the jurisdiction of Makhuam village has been executed without demarcating the land for construction of the railway track which is against the Right to Transparency in Land Acquisition Act .
A press release issued by the general secretary of the Union stated that the failure to clearly demarcate the required area has left several land users and stake holders disappointed following the non-inclusion of their names in the beneficiary/compensation list on several occasions.
The villagers have been pressing the concerned authority to erect boundary pillars but to no avail, it stated .
The Union has warned against the use of the term Jiri-Tupul railway track and stated that the correct term is "Jiri-Makhuam (Marangching)" .
An ultimatum was also submitted to CM N Biren Singh regarding the matter, it added .
It has provided 40 days to the concerned authority to erect the boundary pillars as well as to use the nomenclature "Jiri-Makhuam (Marangching)".
The Union further added that it will take up several democratic agitation including ban of railway related work if their demand is not heeded.
