Imphal, July 04 2014 :
It is unlikely that a reshuffle in Ibobi ministry will take place before the upcoming State assembly session scheduled to commence on July 11, sources said Friday.
Chief Minister O Ibobi and his Deputy Gaikhangam were recently in New Delhi to attend a meeting of Congress Monitoring Group.
During the visit, Ibobi met Congress President Sonia Gandhi and AICC General Secretary and North in-charge Luizinho Faleiro and discussed the issue over demand for ministry reshuffle raised by 27 Congress MLAs.
Sources said that during the meeting, the Congress high command instructed Ibobi and president of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), Gaikhangam to try their level best for defusing the crisis from aggravating in the State Congress.
The disgruntled 27 Congress legislators have been demanding to replace 10 incumbent ministers including the Speaker in the 12-member Council of Ministers.
They have exempted the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister from their demand.
Sources in the State Congress said to effect a reshuffle in Ibobi's ministerial team at this time is a bad idea and there is no immediate plan for ministry reshuffle in Ibobi Government ahead of the coming assembly session.
On the other hand, sources from among Congress MLAs, who have been pushing for an immediate Cabinet reshuffle, said they expect a meeting will take place soon with the CM to discuss the issue.
