The vice-chairman of the Film Forum Manipur, L Surjakanta has been taken under custody by the police for interrogation in connection with the case of the arrest of actress Devita, who the Bishnupur police had arrested on June 29 from Imphal Airport.
The vice-chairman of FFM, L Surjakanta, son of (L) Laimayum Bindhu of Nagamapal, who is also a cinematographer, producer, director, and cameraman of Manipuri films, has been remanded to six days police custody after he was produced before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Bishnupur today, a source said.
Surjakanta was arrested in connection with a case that was taken up in October 2007, FIR No 108 (10) 2007, under which Devita was also arrested.
Preliminary recording of his statement is said to have been completed.
So far, evidence has been obtained that he had link with the concerned UG group and has served as 'negotiator' for the group, the source said.
However, his statement said that the Vision-2020 which specially focus on the development of the region as the region settling by around 470 communities have gulf of different with that of other parts of the country.
The vision document does not include Sikkim.
The unrest situation prevailing in the region made backward from other parts of the country and the draft vision aimed to mend up this gap in development, he added.

Many disturbances are coming up in taking up developmental activities as there is no peace in the state.

In the technical session of the first day of the seminar, Dr DS Sharma, former principal secretary moderated while retired commissioner S Kunjabihari talked on the topic "The North East-towards coordination march" and Imphal Free Press editor, Pradip Phanjoubam on the topic, "Vision-2020: reassessing a perception of north-east development problem.
Discussion on the two topics followed.
The two day long seminar which would be continue till tommorow was organised by the state department of information and public relation at state guest house.
