Principal remanded under POCSO

The Special Judge of POCSO, Senapati has remanded Principal of Jawaharlal Navodaya Vidyalaya, Pfukro, Mao Sanjay Kumar Yadav to judicial custody till March 12 by the Special Judge POCSO Senapati, for alleged sexual assault of a minor student.
The accused Sanjay Kumar Jadav (42) s/o Hoshiar of 50 Kutbapur Barkoda Narnual Mahendragarh, Haryana, was produced before the Court by a team of women police Senapati district, along with a prayer for remanding him to judicial custody for further investigation of the case.
During the hearing, the APP of the State submitted that on February 21, at around 10.30 am, an e-mail from the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights was received stating that the accused had sexually assaulted a minor girl who is studying in the school on January 18 at around 4.30 pm inside the school campus.
Hence a suo moto case was taken up by Senapati women PS under POCSO Act, 2012 .
The Court went through the FIR and the e-mail of NCPCR sent to the SP of Senapati district which mentioned that the Commission had received the complaint through National Commission for Women and took cognizance of the matter under CPCR Act 2005 .
The e-mail further mentioned that the Commission also received a copy of inquiry report, conducted by the Protection Officer, NIC and member of Child Welfare Committee, Shillong.
Upon going through the report, the commission noticed that the sexual assault by the school Principal was reported by the house mistress in a complaint to Regional Officer, Shillong.
A three member team led by Assistant Commissioner Jawaharlal Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Shillong, visited the school and enquired about the matter and during the enquiry they took the statement of the victim and passed an order stating the Court concluded that even after having apprehension about the incident of sexual assault, the Assistant Commissioner JNV Samiti, Shillong, two other members of the enquiry team, member of CWC Senapati, Chairperson CWC Senapati and Protection officer DCPU Senapati failed to report the matter to police.
On the other hand according to a reliable information, the Chairperson and member of Child Welfare Committee Senapati and Protection Officer of DCPU Senapati who failed to report the matter on time and who are listed in Women Police FIR as alleged co-accused of the case is likely to surrender before the Court at the earliest.
