Imphal, April 25 2021:
All Manipur Muslim Development Committee (AMMDC) condemned the act of some rehabilitation centre who has been involved in harassing and detaining individuals on suspicion of being 'drug-users' .
AMMDC said this in a statement issued today and said the Government and relevant authorities should immediately take up actions against such activities.
This is not going against drug rehabilitation centres but against the actions of those centres who without the consent of the families of the individuals are forcibly detaining individual, that too without proof.
There are ample evidence to prove that such rehabilitation centres are paying people Rs 500 per one person detained, said AMMDC in the statement and warned that no rehabilitation centre are to continue such activities in areas inhabited by Muslim communities in the state, less they will face the consequences.
AMMDC also condemned the threatening of AMMDC members by phone for their involvement in 'War on Drug' and the work taken by the committee to free the state of drugs.
The committee also appealed the public in the statement to observe all the Covid-19 SOP in order to stay safe from the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
