Tamenglong, February 19 2013:
The Tamenglong College, the only college in Tamenglong district, having only Arts stream is running today for namesake with the students and the lecturers blaming each other.
But the truth is both the parties have made it a habit to abstain from attending or conducting regular classes.
The lone college is located one kilometre to the west of Tamenglong District HQs.
While the students are blaming the lecturers for not taking regular classes, the lecturers are blaming the students for not attending the classes.
This was found out during an inspection done by this reporter on Monday.
When this reporter reached the college complex, the main gate was found locked and there was no activities either inside the Faculty Block or in the college compound.
In the administrative block, the principal was found along with his head clerk and chowkidar.

Talking to this reporter, Principal Namthiurai Daimei, said dejectedly, 'Nothing much to do as a Principal, just serving order'.
The Principal informed that the students of the college are complaining that the lecturers are not attending classes while the lecturers are doing the same, saying that the students are not coming to attend classes.
"After the winter vacation, the session of the college is supposed to start in full-swing by now.
But it is not happening", the Principal rued.
Interestingly, the Principal himself was not aware how many students or lecturers had come to the college on the day this reporter visited for inspection.
To a query on the attendance of the day, the Principal simply stated, 'I don't know.
It is being handled by Senior lecturer.
But all the classes are over by 12 noon" .
The Principal informed that about 200 students were enrolled in the college and there are 20 lecturers including guest and part time lecturers.
To another query, he said that the college library has 4 staffs.
But all of them were found absent and the library was found closed with a big lock.
Contrary to the statement of the Principal, a student, who came to attend class, said that he went back without attending class as there were no teachers.
The student disclosed that last year too, lecturers did not attend the college regularly.
A labourer, who was found working near the college, informed that he had not seen any class being conducted on that particular day.
It was also surprising to see that the head clerk of the college was using an old typing machine for typing file works.
It was learnt that in case of needing computerized typed documents for sending elsewhere by the principal, he had to rush to the DTP shop at bazaar located one kilometre away from the college and then rushed back again to get signature from the principal.
There is one electric post just behind the administer block of the college.
But there is no electric current.
So, the bulbs in the administrative block of the college remain hanging as decorations.
There is also no teachers' quarters, drinking water facility or hostel facilities, etc, in the lone college of Tamenglong district.
